Family history of DVT, pulmonary embolism, MI, CVA, breast cancer or high cholesterol. Smoking. Presence or history of DM, HTN, heart valve disorders or certain heart rhythm disorders, migraine, cancer, hyperhomocysteinaemia; high or low level of fats in the blood. Overwt; any hereditary or acquired conditions that increases risk of blood clots; hypercholesterolaemia or hypertriglyceridaemia; liver disease; gall bladder disease; jaundice &/or pruritus related to cholestasis; Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis; SLE; haemolytic uraemic syndrome; sickle cell disease; condition that occurred for the 1st time, or worsened during pregnancy or previous use of sex hormones (eg, hearing loss, porphyria, herpes gestationis, Sydenham's chorea); chloasma; hereditary angio-oedema. Inform physician that Microgynon 30/Microgynon 30 ED is being taken before undergoing surgery. Women at risk of prolonged immobilisation (including major surgery, surgery to the legs or pelvis, neurosurgery, major trauma, air travel of >4 hr). May interfere w/ the results of some blood tests. Intolerance to some sugars. Not recommended during lactation.
